Photo taken on Oct. 22, 2018 shows container ships at the port of Los Angeles, California, the United States.  The Port of Los Angeles in California and the adjacent port of Long Beach are the main container ports in the United States, with the largest cargo throughput in the country, but the operation efficiency is not high.  The two ports are among the least efficient in the world, according to a ranking by the World Bank.  Cargo ships have been lining up outside the two ports recently due to rising demand for goods, a shortage of cargo containers and cargo workers, and a reduction in port efficiency due to quarantine measures.  The U.S. government this month ordered the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to work around the clock to unload cargo from ships sitting on the surface of the ocean, in an effort to improve the number of ships waiting to be unloaded outside their ports.
